How to create the perfect Victorian Tile Floor
Most Victorian Floors are characterised by geometric patterns created by small plain coloured tiles, varying in size from 2 to 6 inch square. The simple patterns are usually created by the use of different coloured square tiles, see Oxford Patternand Dorchester Pattern . The increase in shapes and colours used creates the most attractive patterns, Blenheim by Original Style is such a pattern and is characterised by the inclusion of encaustic decorative pieces.
Triangular and Octagonal shapes further increase the decoration, by providing the creation of border patterns. SeeKingsley Border , Byron and Bronte Border borders provided by Original Style . Dust Pressed 6 inch (148x148mm) quarry tiles such as those produced by Dorset Wooliscroft can create a plain chequerboard pattern which can look simply stunning in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways. These ranges are available in Red, White and Black and Grey. Victorian Floor Tile are normally fully vitrified, which means they have negligible water absorption, rendering them suitable for exterior use in porches and pathways.
